About Maastarji

Free Sikhi learning resources for diaspora families

Gursharn Singh

I'm Gursharn Singh—a father of two, a Staff Frontend Software Engineer, a Friday Punjabi school teacher in Toronto, and the person behind Maastarji.com.

Like many Sikh parents in the diaspora, I've wrestled with a simple question: How do I pass on my faith and heritage to my children in a way that actually sticks?

Family helps. Sangat at Gurdwara Sahib helps. But I wanted something more—resources I could use at home, in English so they're accessible, but rooted in our traditions. So I started building them.

What is Maastarji?

Maastarji (ਮਾਸਟਰ ਜੀ) means "respected teacher" in Punjabi. This site is a growing collection of free resources for Sikh families:

  • Children's books based on sakhis and Sikh history
  • Learning games to make Gurmukhi practice fun
  • Guides for parents and teachers

Everything here is free and always will be. If it helps your family, that's enough.
