ਇੱਕ ਗਰਮ, ਸੁੱਕਾ ਦਿਨ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਕਾਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਲੱਭ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ, ਬਹੁਤ ਦੂਰੋਂ ਉੱਡ ਕੇ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਗਲਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁੱਕਾ ਸੀ।

It was a hot, dry day, and a thirsty Crow was looking for water. He had flown a long, long way, and his throat was very dry.

At last he saw a tall pitcher standing on the ground. The Crow flew down and looked inside. There was water at the very bottom!

He picked up a pebble in his beak and dropped it into the pitcher. Plop! Then another. Plop! And another. Plop, plop, plop!

ਹਰ ਪੱਥਰ ਨਾਲ, ਘੜੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਰ ਉੱਪਰ ਆ ਗਿਆ। ਕਾਂ ਇੱਕ-ਇੱਕ ਕਰਕੇ ਪੱਥਰ ਸੁੱਟਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ।

With each pebble, the water rose a little higher in the pitcher. The Crow kept dropping pebbles in, one by one.

ਆਖ਼ਰਕਾਰ ਪਾਣੀ ਪੂਰਾ ਉੱਪਰ ਤੱਕ ਆ ਗਿਆ। ਚਲਾਕ ਕਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਝੁਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਪੀਤਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਉਸਦੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੁਝ ਗਈ।

At last the water rose all the way to the top. The clever Crow leaned in and drank until his thirst was gone.
