Japji Sahib · Stanza 6
Pauri 6
Pleasing God matters more than rituals — listen to even one teaching of the Guru and find treasures within.
My real pilgrimage is to please God; without pleasing God, what use is bathing at holy places?
Jetee sirath upaa-ee vekhaa vin karmaa ki milai la-ee.
Of all the creation I see, without good deeds and grace, what can anyone gain?
Jewels and gems shine inside your mind — if you listen to even one teaching of the Guru.
Guraa ik dehi bujhaa-ee.
O my Guru, the one thing you have made me understand is this:
Sabhnaa jee-aa kaa ik daataa so mai visar na jaa-ee. ॥6॥
There is one Giver for all living beings — may I never forget that One. ॥6॥
