Many Sikh families begin a birthday with Ardas — thanking Waheguru for another year — and some visit the gurdwara. ਲੱਖ ਲੱਖ ਵਧਾਈਆਂ (lakh lakh vadhaaiyaan, 'a hundred thousand congratulations') is the same warm greeting families use on Gurpurabs and Vaisakhi.
