How to read this book
This is a controlled-vocabulary reader — a little book your child can read on their own. It uses only a handful of Punjabi words, repeated often, so a brand-new reader succeeds from the very first page.

What this book is really about
For grown-ups: this one is quietly about where worth comes from. The crow performs how wonderful his find is — louder, shinier, more sure every page — and it is, plainly, a bottle cap. The cow says nothing, looks at it a long time, and on the last page says the very same word the crow has been shouting — but she means it. It's a gentle way to talk with your child about the difference between showing off and actually treasuring something, and how a small thing becomes lovely when a friend truly sees it. The cow looks at it.

Even the crow starts to wonder.
But the cow keeps looking.
“Lovely,” says the cow. And she means it.
