Week 4 · Living our values · Day 25
Courage — standing up when it's hard
The Sikh tradition is full of stories of bir rasa — the spirit of courage and heroism. But Sikh courage is not about showing off or fighting for fighting’s sake. It is about standing up for what is right, protecting those who cannot protect themselves, and telling the truth even when silence would be much easier. Guru Gobind Singh Ji gave us the gift of the Kirpan not to make us fighters, but to remind us every day that we carry a responsibility to be brave on behalf of others. Courage, the Gurus showed us, is really just love in action when things get hard.
Sikh courage is not the absence of fear — it is doing the right thing even when you are afraid.
