Nagar Kirtan

Nagar Kirtan — meaning “singing of the Creator’s praises in the neighbourhood” — is a procession that brings the Sangat out of the Gurdwara and into the streets. The Guru Granth Sahib Ji is carried on a decorated palki, preceded by the Panj Pyare, while the congregation walks behind singing kirtan and distributing prasad and langar to all who gather. It is one of the most visible and joyful expressions of Sikhi — a reminder that this faith was never meant to stay behind closed doors but is lived out loud, in community, as a gift offered freely to the whole world.
