ਇੱਕ ਸਵੇਰ ਵੀਰ ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀ ਨਾਲ ਬਗੀਚੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠਾ ਸੀ। One morning, Veer sat in the garden with Mummy.

ਚਿੜੀਆਂ ਚੋਗ ਚੁਗ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਤੇ ਕੀੜੀਆਂ ਦਾਣੇ ਢੋ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ। Sparrows were pecking seeds, and ants were carrying grains.

ਇੱਕ ਤਿਤਲੀ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਉੱਡ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ। A butterfly fluttered over the flowers.

ਵੀਰ ਸੋਚਣ ਲੱਗਾ। Veer began to wonder.

"ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀ, ਚਿੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਣਾ ਕੌਣ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ?" ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ। "Mummy, who gives the sparrows their food?" he asked.

"ਤੇ ਕੀੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ? ਤੇ ਬਿੱਲੀ ਨੂੰ? ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵੀ?" "And the ants? And the cat? And me?"

ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਸਕਰਾ ਪਏ। Mummy smiled warmly.

"ਵੀਰ, ਇੱਕ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹਰ ਇੱਕ ਜੀਅ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।" "Veer, there is One who gives to every living being."

ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਹੌਲੀ ਜਿਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਗਾਏ: Softly, Mummy sang the words of Guru Ji:

ਚਿੜੀਆਂ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਚੋਗ ਚੁਗਣ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ। The sparrows happily began to peck.

"ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਾਂਗ ਵੰਡ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ!" ਵੀਰ ਮੁਸਕਰਾਇਆ। "I can share too, just like Waheguru!" Veer smiled.

ਓਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ ਵੀਰ ਹਰ ਨਿੱਕੇ ਜੀਅ ਦਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਰੱਖਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ। From that day on, Veer started looking after every little creature.
