- ਰਹਿੰਦਾ । , - ਜੰਗਲ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ , ।

In a faraway land lived an emperor in a palace of glittering gold. But the most wonderful thing of all was not in the palace. It was a little grey nightingale who sang in the green woods.

, ਬੁਲਾਇਆ। । ਰਸਭਰਿਆ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਵਹਿ ਤੁਰੇ।

When the emperor heard about the bird, he sent for her at once. The plain little nightingale came and opened her beak. Out poured a song so sweet and pure that tears of joy rolled down the emperor's cheeks.

, " ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਨਾਲ , ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ।"

"Stay with me always," said the emperor, "for your song is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard."

। - ਨਾਲ ਵਾਲਾ - । ਜਾਂਦੀ, - — -, ਤ੍ਰਿਲ, -, ਤ੍ਰਿਲ!

One day a gift arrived in a velvet box. It was a mechanical bird, all covered in sparkling jewels. When you wound it up, it sang the same tune over and over. Tick-tick, trill, tick-tick, trill.

Everyone crowded around the shiny toy. "How pretty! How grand!" they cried. They forgot all about the plain little nightingale, and quietly she flew home to her green woods.

, ... - ਗਏ। ।

The mechanical bird sang and sang, until one day, with a clank and a clunk, it broke. It could sing no more.

Time passed, and the emperor fell very ill. He lay pale and still in his great bed, too weak to lift his head. The whole palace grew quiet and sad.

। ' ਗਾਉਣ । ਇੰਨਾ ।

But the little nightingale had not forgotten her old friend. She flew to his window and began to sing. Her song was so warm and full of love that it crept into the emperor's heart like sunshine.

- ' ਗਈ। ਨਾਲ ।

Slowly, his cheeks grew pink again. He sat up. He smiled.

, " ਕੋਲ ਗਈ... ।"

"You came back to me," he whispered. "Your true song has made me well."

, " ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਗਾਇਆ ।" , ਹੋਇਆ।

"I will always sing for you," said the nightingale. And every evening she did, and the emperor was never lonely again.
